Amazing things #31 - Wall mounted CD Player

Amazing things #31 - Wall mounted CD Player

One thing that Apartment dwelling Koreans don't have a lot of, - is space... and one thing they can't make a lot of, - is noise, so big floor standing speakers and hi-fi systems are not as common as in other parts of the world... This nifty gadget gives you a clock, CD player /  mp3 player,  with micro SD card / usb support and speakers in a 9" round device you can hang on the wall, in a range of colors... Amazing!

Amazing Things #30 Magic Spoon

Amazing Things #30 Magic spoon

When I first saw this, I thought it must be a mixing spoon or a measuring spoon - Spoons are pretty functional and the design seems to have passed the test of time and there is not much room for improvement.
It functions well but it is Just a spoon!
But what if a spoon was not for eating your cereal or mixing your Bi Bim Bap...  Then it has the potential to become...  MAGIC...  and therefore makes the list as Amazing thing #30.

I give you the Magic Spoon Massager:

and this is how it works... but why is it a spoon?

And of course we all know that in order to sell a product - we need some westerners to endorse it - I thought these two were particularly SCARY!!!

Amazing things #28 - Food waste bin

Amazing things #28 Food waste bin

Here is a poorly shot video of our new food waste recycling bin, you scan a card, it shouts out your address and opens up tells you what to do in Korean and amazingly English (my wife says I should feel honoured as I am the only English person in my Apartment complex)- you chuck in your food waste, it weighs it and then tells you how much it cost - I cut off that bit as I didn't realise it was still talking...

Well I think it is amazing...   640 won per 10 kg that's about 0.40p in real money!!!  And that truly is amazing, I mean how much do 3 of those machines cost?

Amazing Things # 20 - Electric Nail clippers

Amazing Things # 20 - Electric Nail clippers

You know sometimes clipping your nails is just too much like hard work... Thankfully someone has invented  product that will take all the hard work out of it,

At first I thought -"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" What is wrong with the nail clippers we already have - you know ones that won't run out of batteries, right when you need them most!  But then I read the tagline (translated but along the lines of...)

Safe and clean finishing nails without cutting
[Nail Clippers] Nail organizers for a new concept

Amazing things #18 Car kettle

Amazing things #17 - Snail Mucus face cream

Amazing Things #17 - Snail Face cream

The girls in the office were talking about this at lunchtime a couple of weeks ago (Oct 13th)
With my limited Korean language skills I thought I had misunderstood them... but no - here it is snail 'mucus' face cream, apparently good for acne!

- they asked if I had tried any other Korean cosmetics... I gave them my toughest, manliest, western stare, deepened my voice and squeaked out a no! - cosmetics, make-up, beauty products and taking care of yourself is BIG business in Korean - even amongst men!

Amazing Things # 15 - Smart Pad

Amazing Things # 15 - Smart Pad

This is the smartpad, which state it aids the correct posture while sat at a desk, but based on my experience in Korea as a teacher, I think it would be excellent to support students as they sleep at their desks... come to think of it, this would be useful in the office too... ;)
